Walking Into the Light: A Solstice Reflection
Last year, we hiked up Glastonbury Tor for the Summer Solstice.
No ceremony. No script. Just the sun, a winding hill, and strangers becoming a temporary little community at the top. People from all over had gathered, some with drums, some in silence, some just curious. You could feel something in the air, even if you didn’t have the words for it.
It was one of those moments where everything felt a bit clearer. Bigger. Like time paused just long enough for you to notice it.
I always forget how much I need that kind of stillness until I’m in it.
This year, we’re spending Solstice and our wedding anniversary in the Isle of Skye.
We’ll be swapping the Tor for cliffs and sea mist. Less noise. More water. Less ceremony. More space.
And honestly, that’s where I’m at.
No big rituals planned. No grand declarations. Just a quiet kind of gratitude for how far we’ve come, and a willingness to keep showing up. Softer. Slower. A little more real.
If this season is bringing you light, beautiful.
If it’s bringing you shadow, that counts too.
Here’s to honouring both.
Happy Solstice.
